This ancient mill was on top of a mountain that was actually the highest point in the Algarve (south of Portugal). The view, especially from the roof of the old water mill was spectacular. However, the wind was so strong at that high point it was necessary to tie my canvas to my easel, my easel to the wall surrounding the rooftop, and me to the easel, as I could have been blown off the roof, the wind was that strong in spite of it being high summer - and the drop was about sixty feet!
Not only did the Algarve in Portugal inspire me to draw, occasionally I went out into the heat - high nineties and set up my easel. Inspiration allows one to do many things that would be impossible without it.
