ICHOR Gallery Mandalas To A Child

Demelza House A few months ago I embarked on a series of hand drawn Mandalas, a series that has inspired me more than any I have ever done before; as you can see, the inspiration is still pouring out. Many times the idea I started with is not the one that ends up on the paper! These works could be more accurately described as 'painted drawings' because of the intensity of the colours and the fact that I use mixed media including watercolours and sometimes oils even though the initial lines are drawn in ink. I have had a fantastic reaction to these Mandalas, everyone seems to love them as much as I enjoy creating them.

For a long time I have wanted to tie my work up in some way with childrens' charities and have donated works from time to time to charity auctions. Recently I had the idea to create a series of Mandalas that could be enjoyed by children and, from the sale of the prints of those drawings I would donate a percentage of the proceeds to a children's charity. Thus was born the 'Mandala to a Child' series. There are two works in the series at the moment and my intention is to create six, each one representing an aspect of happy childhood. Each one will have an area in which a child's name, boy or girl it doesn't matter, can be placed making it personal to them. Just Email Us with your child's name and it will appear on your mandalas. I believe they would be a beautiful addition to any child's room and make beautiful presents. Of course , adding a name is optional and the prints may be ordered without anything written on them.

I recently came across an article in The Daily Mail about a children's charity called Demelza House which helps very sick children and their families to cope with the child's illness and even to help them prepare for and to get through the indescribable experience of the death of a child. The article touched me deeply and it is to this charity that 10% of the proceeds from the sale of these prints will be donated.

Best wishes to you all,
Marian Fannon Christian (Fanny)
